Mary Alma Stewart
Ms. Stewart obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in General Scholarship in Sociology in 1975 from the University of California, Berkeley and thereafter obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from San Joaquin College of Law, in 1982. Ms. Stewart joined the firm in 2005 and has focused her practice with the firm in civil litigation in the areas of product liability defense, aviation defense, public entity defense and civil business litigation, including franchise and warranty litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Stewart was an associate with the Fresno law firm of Weakley, Ratliff, Arendt & McGuire where she practiced for five years primarily in the area of public entity defense litigation, defending local city and county agencies, including law enforcement and child protective services, against allegations of federal civil rights violations. For the prior fifteen years, she gained extensive experience, practicing in the area of civil litigation with the law firms of Ericksen, Arbuthnot and Schmidt-Hubbell, LLP. Ms Stewart’s prior civil litigation practice has included the areas of insurance defense litigation, insurance coverage and insurance fraud, including all phases of litigation and the successful resolution of cases through settlement or trial. She worked with the Fresno County Superior Court judges as a Staff Attorney early in her legal career, researching matters on the civil law and motion calendar.
